How can I get rid of my Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

May 12th, 2011

By surgery, or with a CPAP machine at home for breathing. If you are overweight, try losing some pounds. Sleep with your neck hyper-extended (tip your head all the way back), this forces the airway open for mouth breathing. Talk to your doctor for choices that are available to you.

Surgical removal of the adenoids helps some people.

It must surely be dealt with, as it can lead to brain damage, and even death.

First, you could lose weight. Most people with obstructive sleep apneia are over weight.

You could also have surgery a UPV3- or uvulo-palatoplasty. This isn’t surgery for sissys, though, as it involves extensive resection of the soft tissue in your throat and soft palate. Think tonsillectomy, but bigger.
