The muscles of the breathing passage relax during rest and close in persons with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Apnea is Greek for “without breath.” The body responds to this lack of oxygen by arousing, or waking from sleep. This cycle leads to the patient being unable to get the needed quantity of restful sleep and results in:

I like your answer but obesity does not ameliorate OSA – it exacerbates it
    ( worsens).

Ameliorate means to get better, but all you advice is sound and sensible

I know what you are …
I know what you are saying I piled 140lbs on in two and a half years. It has take me 18 months to lose the bulk of it.

I now have 16lbs to lose over the next 10 weeks. It is night overnight but your weight does three things goes up, down or stays the same.

If she maintains this weight her problems will be exacerbated – only weight loss can help.

I do not intend o be rude or nasty, however I understand that obesity or being overweight is a factor that ameliorates OSA; rather than spending money buying machines and all sorts that would aid in sustaining your unhealthy lifestyle(i’m only mentioning from what is visibile, do not take offense if I am wrong as I apologise beforehand); why not look into trimming down a bit. Like I said, no offense intended and I am a subscriber and might not know you in person, but care for you.

I come from a science background and you do need to lose weight.

I put on 140 lbs over a two and a half year period and my sleep patterns were dreadful.

I only have 16lbs to loose now and it is completely different. My sleep is now norma- I am asthmatic. This might be the sole root of your problem but is certainly a contributory factor.
